Hancock Law, LLC.

Firm Profile

As the sole owner and attorney at Hancock Law, LLC, you will receive my personal attention on every aspect and detail of your case or transaction.  I offer a range of legal services to my clients in several areas of law, particularly small business law, security clearance law, construction law, real estate law, government contracts, education law, and administrative law.

Small Business LawIn the area of small business law, I represent clients in a range of small business issues from business formation to contract drafting and negotiation to litigation.  Many of my clients have started small businesses, purchased existing small businesses and refinanced small business loans.  I have significant experience negotiating and drafting various contracts, including employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and software license agreements.  I also advise non-profits on formation and business management issues, and I sit on the Board of Directors for the North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation.

Government Contracts: In the area of government contracts, I assist businesses, both large and small, with bids and proposals, protests, claims, terminations for convenience, terminations for default, disputes, and litigation.   My practice extends to several aspects of federal procurement including contract disputes, technology and licensing issues, debarment and suspension, security clearance matters, and litigation of matters before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals.  I also frequently advise clients in negotiating and drafting contracts, teaming agreements, business documents and SBA certification documents.

Real Estate: In my real estate practice, I represent clients involved in litigation over construction defects, mold, breach of contract, and I represent clients in high dollar commercial real estate transactions.  I also frequently review leases and other real estate transactions for my small business clients.

Education LawIn the area of education law, I represent clients in matters involving Individual Education Plans (IEPs), as well as expulsion proceedings.  I have also represented several charter schools in the Colorado Springs area.

Administrative Law:  I have extensive experience in representing clients in the broad area of government and administrative law.  I have represented clients before various administrative boards and agencies including state retirement systems, state licensing and regulatory boards, and federal regulatory agencies.  Before moving back to Colorado, I represented the State of Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) as a staff attorney.  I advised KPERS executives on legal matters including requests for proposals, KPERS’ regulatory authority, and pension and retirement issues.  I also represented KPERS in administrative hearing matters that arose in the course of KPERS’ business.  Since moving to Colorado, I have represented clients in administrative matters before the State of Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles for DUI related drivers’ license revocations, the Department of Defense, Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals for security clearance appeals, and the Department of Agriculture Forest Service for special permit revocation hearings.
